Myc Ripley Interview part 2

Part 2 of the interview with Myc Ripley

-I always see you put Life on chill.  Can you explain what that is?

I'm a firm believer that as humans we speak most things into our lives, we manifest 85% of what happens to us. Whether we understand this or not. Our subconscious minds play a major part in our perception of this world we live in. #lifeonchill is the new way to make moves. I've done the knucklehead and shady living, this is just me growing up and putting an end to the bullshit I find myself in. Its a conscious awareness state of mind, like a constant mantra to live by now that I'm making into a brand for life.

Life On Chill and L.O.C Covey, which is easier said as "Ello Covey" is the byproduct of unoriginality, biting, hating, negative energy, and the force feeding of social norms. To all that I say "Chill!!"

The Motto is "Life On Chill."

You can only control your existence and how you react/conquer situations. Situations and life are better handled on the chill. I believe most would agree.

The tagline is "That L.O That L.O.. If you know me, say HELLO!" Some know me, some act like they don't. I leave it at that, I don't chase anyone or anything.

Basically, keep #LifeOnChill and master yourself. All will pan out for the better afterwards. We still working on strategies to wake people the fuck up..

-Why are the people you work with never get shine?

I like to work with and be the underdog, its keeps me humble as well as still pushing toward a common goal. So, in turn I work with the same type people. Those that are still trying to make a name in this so-called scene of SJ hip hop or hip hop in general. It helps me apply things that I have learned over the years in working with most artists in SJ that have let a little bit of popularity go to their head like worldwide fame. I know people have heard my name out there, whether they admit it or not. Shit, I've been on SJ stages since '05 maybe earlier and in other places. I know I'm heard of. How far does my name carry? Sheesh, I don't know. I don't trip off shit like that. I make my songs, do whatever features are asked of me, hit the booth and keep it moving. All other is just distraction, honestly.

On the flip side of that though, I haven't really taken the steps 100% to get shine, like shop my albums, connect with a marketing/promotion team or anything of that nature because 85% of these type people are shady. So, I know that plays a part in any artist (me or those I choose to work with) not getting shine or notability. Although, I work with people that would still be in my circle if this music shit wasn't even jumpin' like that. I work with those that I get a genuine core sense of respect from, there's levels to this shit when dealing with me. I've been stabbed in the back too many times for blindly working with someone I just figured was cool. Now, I'm to the point where I gotta see how you operate with people and life first before even trying to build with an artists. Too much fuck shit going on behind the scenes.. I'm bipolar, I can't have high stress and dumb people around me trying to be cool or ratchet for the fuck of it.. That ain't me G..

-Why do you think People don't wanna work with you?

I don't think that people don't want to work with me, I get asked to work with people all the time. Mainly, people who make beats reach out to me more than actual artists do. I think that shit is better anyway, because it shows me that person has listend to me enough to know that I'll do their beat justice and go in with precise tactics in getting the perfect song to that beat. Also, I don't have to deal with lame egos of people who are stll on the same playing field as I am. I think that I resonate on the wavelength with some artists. Most artists might not feel my concepts most of the time though. I'm abstract and way beyond the beliefs of most, some of my thoughts aren't easy to grasp or see, y'dig? Sometimes I just don't feel like conforming and making another trendy song for popularity. Really though, right now at this moment I'm focused on getting my real life straightened out or what not. You know, family, work, the laws, etc.. a ninja got to be super clean, that might hold me back from getting into some other artists studios possibly. That's ultimately a question to ask other SJ artists, WHY YOU AIN'T TRYNA WORK WITH MYC RIPLEY?!?! o_O hahah!!

-Last question when your album coming out??

The album #FVXKERY is set for February 13th, 2014 if all goes well. I'll shop it, take even more of the proper stpes, etc.. I just released a compilation named "Featuring Myc Ripley" on August 5th, that has songs from the people that actaully have worked with me. Whether I reached out or they reached out. The songs are on Datpiff, Bandcamp, and Hot New Hip Hop music platforms.

Myc Ripley Interview with Everything San Jose Hip-Hop Pt1

.
Our First interview with San Jose Veteran Myc Ripley.  Part 1

- How did you come up with your name?

I used to go by the name Cozmick The 8th Wonder. Then Garcia Gridi, but those were short lived. They had no meaning, at least to me it didn't. The name Mychogg Ripley (sounds like Mike Hogg) was given to me by my higher self in an encounter I had with the infinite darkness back in like 2001 or something. It means, Most Yall Cowards Have Offended God Greatly Rest In Peace Life Ends Young. "God" just doesn't mean the creator, it also is the relationship an individual has with themself, their inner God, inner G or ENERGY.  Myc Ripley is easier for the masses to speak instead of the whole. Also, I feel a name should have meaning, this gives you a true purpose within your music as well.
- Why Hip Hop?

Why not?! I mean, its the most creative form of using words. Even though, I don't just do hip hop, I do other type music. Been doing reggae vibes n lyrics over dubstep/electronic sounds since before the trendy craze.. Also, some rock songs with good friends of mine in his band since way back in my beginning stages. I basically, do music. I can't be put into one precise box when its comes to my creativity. I know that's why its hard for me to breakout like majority of artists have. I'm still bouncing back and forth between genres having a good time creating what I want. Whether it is appreciated or not, I like to be the first to do certain things a certain way.

-What made you pick the name Nemesis as the title?

My last album that dropped in November 2012 was called Nemesis, because I was going rogue on all aspects. From the beat selection (I made everyone of them), to concepts and features. All across the board I wanted to prove to myself that I could make a 20 track album and talk about what I wanted or needed to talk about personally. Nemesis was more of an album to help me focus on my ascension into the new dimensions we are leading up to here in the next 7 years. This was the basic I vs I scheme of things. By definition, Nemesis is "a long-standing rival; an archenemy" and basically, I am my only worst enemy. I ain't worried about what nobody else is doing, I move in my own time. That album was to overcome and find out what was going on inside me at the new stage I found my life in. I had to fight and deal with the hate for myself I collected over the years.

-What's Your next project called?  and who do you plan to Feature on it?

My next project is called #FVXKERY. Forever Victory x Killin Everything Reality Yearns due out for February. Its going to interesting. Im still working out the feature side of it, I know that it will have more people outside of San Jose and California. Romania will for sure be on it, the homie from the Caribbean is on it. As well as my crew.. hopefully, its still being decided.
